Family Mart Foodie Series 1 — Trying Onigiri (おにぎり) For First Time
Oh peeps, great news! Coupled with #ShopeePay, Family Mart recently launched a promotion as per the image above! So, you better pay a visit, so that you can get one (1) piece of onigiri (Japanese rice ball with stuffings) only at RM 1.10, YEAH , you see it right! Usually one piece cost about RM 4.5 AND ABOVE! UNTIL 24 Oct 2021! But, as a responsible citizen, please always follow SOP and avoid crowds!
Ever since the invasion of FamilyMart in 2016, this Japanese franchise rose to fame in Malaysia. However, to be honest, the prices in comparison to 7-Eleven and MyNews are more expensive, but like 100 % more unique and tastier too! However, as a small potato in my company, I rarely get anything there, except for their ice-cream. But, recently, my BFF informed me about the RM 1.1 promotion. So, for the past few days, I tried a total of five (5) flavours of onigiri from Family Mart as follows:
The following summarises my review:
1) Chuka Hidako — The octopus was very nicely marinated. I totally loved the texture (4.5/5)
2) Salted Salmon — The salmon was minced and I can sense a bit of tako sauce (maybe I am wrong). (4/5)
3) Squid — Oh my gosh, this was by far the best I have tasted!!! Squid game got a bit of bling there, with wasabi sauce. Exploded on my taste buds (5/5)
4) Tuna Mayo — LOL, this was just normal like the canned tuna la (3/5)
5) Teriyaki Pepper Chicken — The chicken meat was well-marinated, but it tasted nothing out of the ordinary (3.5/5)
Verdict, with the promo price, these were totally worth it. But honestly, in normal days, I would just have a one or two as titbit, for a long time, and Squid flavour was by far my favourite! Check out my youtube video on how to unwrap onigiri tutorial, as well as the content/ stuffings (^_^) !
